Fridays in November – 8th + 15th + 22nd + 29th
This workshop series is developed to take us back to the beginning and start things over. This can be done at any time in life and however many times we need to. But this specific journey brings with it the seeds to, if practiced in everyday life, get a lived experience of your purpose in this lifetime.
Purpose and the sanskrit word Dharma/Duty is for many of us connected to something we should know or at least find. Bill Plotkin (author and wilderness psyche guide) describes it as: “Our unique ecological niche”. It is the closest description of my felt understanding of Dharma.
What are we here for?
What can I do with my time and energy?
Is there a perfect place for me?
The thing is: There is a perfect place for you. Here. Now. In relationship with your own weight bearing, energy, longings, possibilities and boundaries.
This series of classes and lectures are for you and me to come into closer relationship with the felt sense of Dharma, not the goal or result of Dharma. Like any relationship, before we have spent time together getting to know each other, we don’t know the power or feeling of US.
My hope is to bring about a series of revolutionary tiny tiny changes in how you move and carry your own weight. These tiny changes are often what is needed to feel ourselves again, to find a more natural movement pattern and experience how our body-moves are impossible to separate from our mind-moves.
When we pay attention to our experience in movement and get the t i m e to process with a guide through movement and inquiry, we can bring about the closeness with our personal energy and through the experience of I T get an understanding of what we can and cannot do if we honor who we really are and where we are. This can overtime help us reorganize our lives to be in relationship with what we can energetically do. An apple cannot make orange marmalade, but it can be an apple, do apple things, and most importantly… when YOU can feel YOU, resting into your dharma, the *stuff* will evolve from there.
1) DEVELOPMENTAL MOVEMENT PATTERNS & DHARMA
Friday 8th of November
This session takes us through a movement series that started inside the womb and ‘ended’ in you learning to walk.
2) SUPPORTING DIMENSIONAL SPINE
Friday 15th of November
When we feel how every move either supports or interrupts flow through the spine we also know how to track our relationship to gravity and earth.
3) PATHWAYS OF CONNECTION & PATHWAYS OF WEIGHT
Friday 22nd of November
An exploration in what happens when the soft tissues of our bodies are allowed to move and tell stories and bone flow our weight.
4) SPACE OF FREEDOM
Friday 29th of November
This last session is dedicated to our fluid body.
“Find the space, then move the space”- Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen.
Space in the body is always in connection to fluids. Fluids in the cells, between the cells, in the connective tissues, hormones, blood, joint fluid and on and on. Somatic explorations that eventually drop us in asana and myofascial trains of connections.
